S2O: More Than a Music Festival, It's a Sensory Extravaganza

Originating in Thailand, S2O has quickly become a global sensation and a symbol of summer parties. The festival's most distinctive feature is its use of water! During the scorching summer heat, water jets on stage spray in sync with the music, allowing the crowd to dance and revel in the refreshing water. This unique interactive experience makes S2O the world's "wettest" party, offering every attendee an unparalleled sense of freedom and excitement.

For the 2025 Taipei edition, S2O will bring an ultra-luxurious lineup of international DJs, including world-class electronic music producers and performers. From house music to EDM, from hypnotic beats to heavy bass drops, the S2O stage will deliver a double dose of auditory and visual震撼. Recommended Accommodations (Based on Personal Experience)

Songshan District

This area is considered the heart of Taipei, offering convenient access to major attractions like Taipei 101, Ximending, Daan District, Taipei Main Station, Huashan, and Zhongshan.

Mandarin Oriental Taipei
The Mandarin Oriental Taipei is synonymous with luxury and elegance, located in the core of Songshan District. It offers an exceptional stay with spacious rooms and suites that blend Eastern aesthetics with modern design. Top-notch amenities include Michelin-starred restaurants, a luxurious spa, and an outdoor heated pool, making it the perfect choice for travelers seeking a refined lifestyle.
Personal note: The beds here are the most comfortable I've ever slept in! I stayed in an Executive Suite, and the service was impeccable.

Capella Taipei
Capella Taipei is known for its personalized service and exclusivity, situated in a prime location in Songshan District. The hotel offers premium suites and villas, each meticulously designed to reflect understated luxury. It also features top-tier dining options, private butler services, and exclusive event spaces, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for guests.
Personal note: This hotel is set to open in April 2025. I’ll share my experience after my stay. The Capella in Bangkok, located next to the Four Seasons, is stunning with its garden lawns. The Taipei version seems to focus on high-rise views—I hope the restaurants are just as good!

Meistay Art Gallery Hotel
Meistay Art Gallery Hotel is a boutique hotel that combines art and fashion, located in Songshan District with excellent transportation links. The hotel is themed around art, with carefully curated artworks displayed throughout, creating a unique cultural atmosphere. The rooms are simple yet comfortable, catering to both business and leisure travelers. It’s also close to the MRT, making it easy to explore Taipei’s top attractions.
Personal note: The rooms are quite diverse, ranging from budget-friendly options to suites and family rooms. My favorites are the 101 Executive Suite and the 103 Scenic Room—the view from 103 is breathtaking! Returning guests are treated to thoughtful snacks and handwritten notes. During an extended stay, I even received a box of Jiade Pineapple Cakes, which brought back childhood memories.

Zhongshan District

This area is closer to Dajia Riverside Park but lacks nearby dining options aside from Miramar Entertainment Park. Late-night snacks and breakfast options are limited unless you dine at the hotel.

The Grand Hotel Taipei
The Grand Hotel Taipei is an iconic landmark, perched on a hill in Zhongshan District with stunning city views. This historic hotel is famous for its Chinese palace-style architecture and offers spacious rooms and extensive facilities, including multiple restaurants, an outdoor pool, and a fitness center. It’s not just a place to stay but also a gateway to experiencing Taipei’s history and culture.
Personal note: The hotel has a strong historical vibe, and the grand red staircase is a perfect photo spot!

Grand Mayfull Hotel Taipei
Grand Mayfull Hotel Taipei is known for its high-quality service and luxurious facilities, located in Zhongshan District. The hotel features modern, elegantly designed rooms and suites. Its dining options are diverse, including Michelin-recommended restaurants that cater to food lovers. Additionally, the hotel offers a spa, fitness facilities, and an indoor pool, providing a comprehensive luxury experience.
Personal note: The Japanese restaurant "Kiyama" offers an excellent omakase experience, and the buffet is decent too. The rooms are designed in a soft beige tone, which is very appealing, and the bedding is comfortable.

Taipei Marriott Hotel
Taipei Marriott Hotel is an internationally renowned five-star hotel located in Zhongshan District, known for its modern design and exceptional service. The hotel offers spacious rooms, multiple dining options, and well-equipped meeting facilities, making it suitable for both business and leisure travelers. The rooftop infinity pool and fitness center are perfect for relaxation amidst a busy schedule.
Personal note: The breakfast is fantastic, and the teppanyaki is also worth trying. I used to enjoy their beef noodle soup, though it’s been a while since my last visit. The gym and pool are on the smaller side, but the upside is that they’re rarely crowded.

For Art Lovers: Meistay Art Gallery Hotel

I highly recommend Meistay Art Gallery Hotel for art enthusiasts. This art-themed hotel provides sketchpads and drawing materials for guests to unleash their inner Picasso. The hotel is adorned with carefully curated artworks, creating a rich cultural atmosphere during your stay. It’s also a top choice for international travelers, often fully booked during events like Ultra Taiwan or New Year’s celebrations, so be sure to book early!
Why I recommend it: The staff are incredibly warm and friendly. Despite being a three-star hotel, the service feels like you’re being taken care of by a local friend, offering thoughtful assistance and insider tips.
